Yellowstone Canyons and Waterfalls

Monday, August 24, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Last full day in Yellowstone. Drove out to the north entrance and took a picture of the Roosevelt Arch (left).

I hadn't been into the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone yet, so I spent most of the day visiting the canyon and its two waterfalls - Upper Falls and Lower Falls. To the right is the brink of the Lower Falls, which is the larger of the two falls. This viewpoint is about 600 feet below the north rim of the canyon, but its a pretty easy walk down.

View of the Lower Falls (below) from the South Rim of the canyon. The Upper Falls is around the corner to the left and out of sight from this point.

The picture below was taken from Uncle Tom's trail, which takes you from the South Rim to near the base of the Lower Falls. It takes over 300 steps to get down to the viewpoint

Lower Falls from the bottom of the Uncle Tom's trail.
